Description
Passion fruit has a brittle, wrinkled purple-brown rind enclosing flesh-covered seeds. The fruit is the size of an egg. The seeds are edible so you can eat the orange pulp straight from the shell.

Florida: Available year round
New Zealand: February to July
California: July to March

Shopping
Choose large, plump, heavy passion fruit. If the skin is not deeply wrinkled, keep the passion fruit at room temperature until it is. Mold on the shell can be wiped off without affecting the quality of the fruit. Avoid overly hard fruit.

Storage
Ripen at room temparture turning occasionaly. Passion fruit can be refrigerated for up to a week.
